Misfits

Misfits - Garrett Leigh This trio came about in a way I hadn't seen yet. It wasn't your typical menage story. Tom and Cass have an open relationship, then Tom falls for Jake. Of course, Cass is all too accommodating and encourages Tom to continue his budding relationship with Jake. Jake, of course, it wigged out at first that Tom is in a relationship. But he just can't resist Tom. Whereas, his relationship with Tom starts out right away, his and Cass's builds over time, starting out as friendship that evolves to love.

I loved how it was explained as a puzzle of sorts. Jake was the missing piece and he connected Tom and Cass together in a way they never realized. The piece they were searching for when hooking up outside of their relationship. The story is told primarily from Tom's POV, switching to Jake's in the middle, with the epilogue in Cass's voice. At first I had wanted more of Cass's POV, but once I finished the story, it seemed to work the way it was written. The story was really about Tom bringing Jake into the fold.

I've read several of Garrett's books, and this is definitely my favorite. I loved Jake's character. His TS made him real and more lovable. I thought it was great that Tom and Cass had different approaches in dealing with it. They all had starkly different personalities, yet they were similar and they complemented each other perfectly.
